Asbestos removal in Thurrock
Thurrock is the unitary borough Grays sits inside, and it is where we are registered: 21 Lodge Lane, Grays, RM17 5RY. The borough runs along the Thames through Tilbury, Chafford Hundred, Purfleet, South Ockendon and Corringham as well as Grays itself, and we work across all of it from the same base.

The council, and what it leaves you to do
At Linford
Thurrock's own household waste and recycling centre does not accept asbestos, in any quantity, at any time.
No collection scheme
Thurrock does not run a household asbestos collection either, unlike Essex County Council next door, which runs a subsidised one every financial year.
What that leaves
A privately operated disposal site. Thurrock's own guidance is to phone ahead and check the site will accept your waste and what it charges.
Where we fit
Collection and disposal through a route that is already licensed to take it, with a consignment note as proof.

What we handle
Note
Cement, coatings, tiles and the more delicate materials too
Cement sheeting, Artex, floor tiles, gutters and water tanks are ours directly. Sprayed coatings, pipe or boiler lagging and asbestos insulating board need more care, and some of it needs a licensed contractor. We will tell you which, and what to look for in one. Soffits and anything in a loft do not get a price until someone has actually looked.
Whatever you have found, tell us and we will take it from there.
What Thurrock residents ask us
What's the difference between this page and the Grays page?
Grays is the town our office is actually in. Thurrock is the wider borough it sits inside, which also takes in Tilbury, Chafford Hundred, Purfleet and the rest. Both pages describe the same one base and the same coverage.
Do you cover Tilbury and South Ockendon?
Yes, along with the rest of the borough. Send your postcode and you will get a straight answer on timing rather than a general yes.
Why can I not take my asbestos to the tip in Thurrock?
Thurrock's own recycling centre at Linford will not accept it, and the council does not run a collection scheme either, unlike some neighbouring councils. It has to go to a privately operated site that will accept it, phoned ahead to check first.
Is a small amount of asbestos actually dangerous?
Whole, undamaged cement sheeting is not releasing fibres while it stays intact. The risk is in breaking it, and once it becomes waste it still has to be handled and disposed of as hazardous waste, whatever the quantity.
Grays, and the wider area
Grays is inside Thurrock and gets its own page too. We also cover Essex, Kent and London beyond the borough.
Send a photo and a postcode
That is enough for a real answer on price. Or call, and you will get someone who is a short drive away, not a call centre.
