Privacy policy
This page covers what happens to your information when you get in touch with us, however you do it. In short: we collect what you tell us and the photographs you choose to send, we use it to answer you and to do the job, we do not sell it, and we do not send marketing to people who asked us a question.

The enquiry form does not send anywhere yet
Note
Filling in the form elsewhere on this site
The form does not currently have anywhere on our side to send what you type or attach. There is nothing printed next to the form itself to say so before you fill it in: if you complete it and press send, the page shows you a message saying it did not go through, with our phone number and WhatsApp link next to it. Either way, nothing you enter into that form today, photographs included, reaches us through it.
If you want to reach us now, call 07708 761540 or message the same number on WhatsApp. The rest of this page describes what we do with what you tell us either way, and what will change once the form is connected.

What this website collects, and why
- Your name, so we know who we are speaking to and what goes on the paperwork.
- Your phone number, to call you back with an answer or a price. It is usually the only way we reach you.
- Your postcode, to work out whether you are in reach and what the travel means for the job.
- When you need it done, and what you need doing, so we understand the job before quoting.
- Anything you type in the message box, because it is usually the most useful thing on the form.
- A photograph, if you send one. See the next section: it is the most useful thing you can send us, and the most sensitive.
For all of that except the photograph, the basis we rely on is that you have asked us to take steps before entering into a contract with you. For the photograph, the basis is our legitimate interest in answering the question you have actually asked. We do not ask for, and do not want, your date of birth, your bank details, your National Insurance number, or anything about your health. If you send any of those anyway, we will delete them.
What happens to a photo you send us
What we do with it
Use it to identify the material and price the job, and nothing else. A photo of a roof, a loft or a ceiling identifies a building, and sometimes the people in it, so we treat it as sensitive by default.
What we will not do
We will never publish a photo of your property on this website, in an advertisement, or on any social media page, without asking you first and getting a clear yes.
Cookies, tracking, and the one request every page makes
This website sets no cookies. It stores nothing in your browser between visits, and there is nothing here that follows you to other websites.
- No cookies are set, by this site or by anything on it.
- No localStorage or sessionStorage is used to remember anything about you.
- No analytics of any kind runs on this site. Nothing counts your visit or tracks what you look at.
- No iframe, chat widget or social feed is embedded anywhere on the site. Each of those typically brings its own tracking with it.
- This site does load three typefaces from Google's font service on every page. Your browser asks Google's servers for those files directly, and in doing so tells Google your IP address and which page you were on. We do not receive or use anything from that request ourselves, and Google's own terms cover what happens to it on their end.
We may move those typefaces onto our own server, which would stop that request happening at all. If we ever add analytics, you will see it named here, with what it does and how long its cookies last, before it loads.
How long we keep it
- An enquiry that did not become a job
- Deleted once the conversation is finished.
- Photographs sent with an enquiry that did not become a job
- Deleted at the same time.
- Records of completed work, including the hazardous waste consignment note
- Kept for as long as the law requires.
- Invoices and accounting records
- Kept for the period tax law requires.
- Web server logs
- Kept for our host's standard log retention.
Who else might see it
Very few people, and no advertiser. Your enquiry reaches us, and us alone, and we use it to answer you. It is not passed to lead-generation companies and it is not sold to anyone.
Note
The suppliers who keep this website and our email running
They can technically reach what passes through their systems. They act on our instructions only, and do not use it for their own purposes.
Note
The licensed disposal site that receives the waste
The facility is given the producer's name, address and a description of the waste on the consignment note. This is a legal requirement, not a choice.
Worth knowing
If a job ever needs another company brought in
Today, nobody else sees your enquiry. If a job you have asked about turns out to need another company involved, we will tell you first, and say who, before anything about you is passed on.
Note
HMRC, the Environment Agency or the Health and Safety Executive
Where we are legally required to produce records for them.
What you can ask us to do
-
01
See what we hold
Ask what information we hold about you and get a copy of it.
-
02
Correct it
Ask us to correct anything that is wrong.
-
03
Have it deleted
Ask us to delete it, subject to what we are legally required to keep, such as waste and tax records.
-
04
Restrict or object
Ask us to stop using it, or object to us relying on legitimate interests as the basis for using it.
-
05
Take it elsewhere
Ask for a copy in a portable form you can give to someone else.
There is no form to fill in and no charge. Ring 07708 761540 or email enquiries@smartasbestossolutions.co.uk and say so. UK GDPR gives us one month to answer.
If you are not happy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. You do not have to raise it with us first.
What people ask about this
If I call or WhatsApp you instead of using the form, does this page still apply?
Yes, to what we do with it afterwards. The call or the message itself travels over your phone network or through WhatsApp, which is owned by Meta and has its own privacy notice covering that journey. What you tell us, and what we then do with it, is covered by this page like anything else you send us.
Do you use my photo for anything other than pricing the job?
No. Not for marketing, not on social media, not on this website, unless you have separately said yes to that.
Can I ask you to delete everything you hold about me?
Yes, and we will, except for records we are legally required to keep, such as a hazardous waste consignment note or an invoice within its retention period. We will tell you plainly if that applies rather than silently keeping something back.
Do you share my details with other tradespeople?
Not today. If a job you have asked about ever turns out to need another company brought in, we will tell you first, before anything about you is passed to them. We do not pass enquiries to other contractors as leads.
Your right to cancel a booking
This is about cancelling a job you have agreed with us, not the information covered by the rest of this page. It sits here rather than on its own page because there is currently no terms page on the site.
Note
The 14-day right
If you agree to a job with us away from a business address of ours, such as at your own home, by phone, by message or through this website, you generally have the right to cancel within fourteen days of agreeing to it, without giving a reason, under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, checked 13 Sep 2026.
That right does not cover a visit you have specifically asked us to make for urgent repairs or maintenance, such as an emergency call-out: the regulations exclude that case on purpose.
Worth knowing
If work starts before the fourteen days are up
The regulations allow a job to start sooner than that if you have expressly asked us to begin before the fourteen days end. If you then cancel partway through, you may owe a fair amount for the work already done rather than nothing at all.
Whether we currently give the written cancellation information the regulations require before a job is agreed, and how often work in practice starts inside that 14-day window, has not been confirmed with Ross.
This is a short summary, not legal advice and not the whole of the regulations. If you want to cancel a booking, call 07708 761540 or email us and say so plainly: there is no form to fill in.
Changes to this page, and getting in touch
This page carries a version number and a date. Both change when the policy does. If we start doing something materially different with your information, such as adding analytics or a new supplier, this page changes before the change takes effect rather than after.
