Asbestos removal in Kent
We are based in Grays, on the Essex side of the Thames, and Kent starts on the other side of the Dartford Crossing. That is the whole reason Kent is a normal day's work for us rather than a special trip: parts of north Kent sit closer to our yard than some of Essex does.

There is no hard boundary drawn on a map. In practice, these are the things that decide it.
- How close you are to the Dartford Crossing, since that is the route in and out.
- Whether the job is a straightforward single structure or something bigger.
- The same things that affect the price everywhere: how much there is, whether it is already down, and how we reach it.
- Timing. A job that fits around the crossing at a quiet hour is easier to schedule than one that does not.
That covers Dartford, right by the crossing, just as much as Maidstone, further into the county, though the further one is the longer drive.

We have not confirmed Kent council rules
Essex County Council and Thurrock Council each publish their own asbestos disposal policy for households, and the two do not agree with each other: one runs a subsidised household collection every financial year, the other does not run one at all. We have not yet confirmed what Kent County Council does at the recycling centres it runs, or whether it offers a household collection. Kent is two-tier, so the county runs the tips and the districts do not, and Medway is a separate unitary authority with its own policy again.
Check with your own council before assuming it works either way.

What we handle
Note
Cement, coatings, tiles and the more delicate materials too
Cement sheeting, Artex, floor tiles, gutters and water tanks are ours directly. Sprayed coatings, pipe or boiler lagging and asbestos insulating board need more care, and some of it needs a licensed contractor. We will tell you which, and what to look for in one. Soffits and anything in a loft do not get a price until someone has actually looked, because cement sheet and insulating board look identical there.

Do you charge more for coming into Kent?
The crossing does not change our pricing on its own. What changes the price is what you have, how much of it, and how we reach it, the same as anywhere else we cover.
Which parts of Kent do you cover?
North Kent, closest to the crossing, is the part of the county we can reach quickest, but send your postcode and we will give you a straight answer rather than a guess.
Can I take a Kent council recycling centre my asbestos?
We genuinely do not know Kent's own rules yet and would rather say so than guess. Essex and Thurrock, which we have checked, do not agree with each other on this, so do not assume either applies to you. Ring your own council and ask directly.
Is it safe to leave an old asbestos roof alone?
Often, yes. If the sheets are whole, not being drilled or broken, the fibres are bound into the cement and are not being released. The safest thing can be doing nothing at all, and we will tell you that on the phone.
