Asbestos cladding removal
Cement wall cladding and flat panels, on a wall, a gable end or a run of infill between structural bays, taken down whole and carried away. Looking for guttering or downpipes specifically? That page covers the same material in a different shape.

Cladding and panels, not gutters
- Flat cement panels fixed to a timber or steel frame on an outside wall.
- Infill panels between structural bays on an industrial or agricultural building.
- Weatherboard-style panels made to look like overlapping timber boards.
- Gable-end panels on a house, garage or outbuilding.
- Not guttering, downpipes or ridge capping, that is a different page for the same material in a different shape.
Remove it, clad over it, or leave it
Leave it where it is
Sound cladding that nobody is drilling, cutting or knocking about is not an emergency. If it is intact, doing nothing is often the right call.
Clad over it
New panels can sometimes be fitted straight over sound cement rather than taking the old material off first. It costs less than removal and puts off the decision, though it does not get rid of what is underneath.
Take it off
Worth doing when panels are cracked or shedding, when the building is being re-clad properly, or when the wall needs to be exposed for other work.
We do not fit the new material
We take the old cement away. If you want new cladding fitted afterwards, that is a different trade, and we would rather say so than take the job and hand it to someone else behind your back.
How cladding actually comes down
-
01
We look first
A photo of the whole wall, not just one panel, tells us the material, the extent and how we will reach it.
-
02
Unclipped or unscrewed
Taken down in one piece where the fixings allow, the same care as any other cement sheet job.
-
03
Wrapped on the ground
Double-wrapped and labelled before anything is carried anywhere.
-
04
Loaded by hand
Carried to the van rather than tipped in.
-
05
Paperwork follows
The waste goes to a facility licensed to take it, and your consignment note follows by email.
Weatherboard, timber and mixed walls
Note
Not everything that looks like cladding is cement
Some panels are genuine timber weatherboard with no asbestos in them at all, and some walls mix cement panels with timber trim or modern infill added later. You cannot always tell which from a photo of one section.
Send a photo of the whole wall and we will tell you plainly what is ours to take, what is not asbestos in the first place, and what happens next either way.
What actually changes the price
- How much wall is covered. A single gable end is a different job from a full elevation.
- Whether the panels are whole or already cracked and shedding.
- Height and access. Scaffolding changes a job more than the material does.
- Whether it is already down and stacked, which is collection rather than removal.
What people ask us
What does asbestos cladding look like?
Usually a flat, grey or weathered cement panel, sometimes made to look like overlapping timber weatherboard. Age and colour are clues, not proof, some genuine timber weatherboard looks similar and has no asbestos in it at all.
How much does it cost to remove asbestos cladding?
We quote per job rather than off a price list, because the area covered and the access change the price more than the material does. Send a photo of the whole wall and a postcode and you will get a real number back.
Is it worth cladding over an old asbestos wall rather than removing it?
Sometimes. If the cement underneath is sound, fitting new cladding straight over it can be cheaper and quicker than removal, and it is a genuine option on a wall that is not damaged. It does not get rid of the material, it covers it.
Can asbestos cladding be repaired instead of replaced?
Small, sound repairs to intact cement panels are sometimes possible, but a panel that is already cracked or shedding is generally past the point where patching it is the safer option. Send a photo and we will tell you honestly which side of that line yours is on.
